Q Station Retreat in Manly, the distinctive conference venue and historic tourism icon in the heart of Sydney Harbour National Park, has launched a Nature Walk tour to take visitors on a journey through North Head’s diverse natural heritage.
The two hour guided walking tour, set at a leisurely pace, reveals North Head’s best kept secrets. Visitors will be guided through areas of outstanding natural heritage significance which although under threat, have by and large remained a part of Q Station’s natural legacy.
Throughout the tour, visitors may find themselves face to face with five species of terrestrial mammal, including the locally endangered long nosed bandicoot, seven terrestrial reptile species and 90 native bird species, including the Little Penguin population which is now the only breeding colony on the mainland of NSW.
Remarkable micro ecosystems occur within the National Park such as remnant rainforest, hanging swamps, melaleuca forest and heathland, and there are records of some 460 species of flora including five identified as very rare.
Q Station offers a range of interactive tours in addition to the Nature Walk including history and ghost tours.
